This is a must have for all graduate nurses and nurses new to medical surgical nursing. It is also great for the critical care nurse to brush up on skill we don't see everyday in the unit although it does contain information such as central lines, temporary pacemaker care, arrythmias and treatment, mechanical ventilation and basic hemodynamic monitoring. My only dislike is that the print is sooooo small. It does contain great illustrations and chart though. Overall it's worth the money since most of these basic procedures don't change much over time. I bought it because I've been out of nursing to raise three kids and am now going back to work. This is a great resource. The format is an alphabetical listing of procedures by name so it's very easy to find just what you're looking for quickly. Make sure you get the 7th edition though. It's the latest version. Happy reading to all my nursing colleagues!

The resource is concise and provides easy to follow illustrations. Would serve as a great resource addition to any nursing unit for skills not frequently performed. Covers areas from basic nursing to higher level patient care management seen in critical care areas. A sound and practical resource.
